Solarize Ammonoosuc Overview
What is Solarize Ammonoosuc?
The Solarize program, originally developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is a community-based initiative designed to make residential solar power more affordable through group purchasing.
How does this work?
The Ammonoosuc Regional Energy Team has selected a solar installer based on a set of criteria including price, capability, previous experience, and references. The selected installer, O'Meara Solar, will offer group discounts based on the total amount of contracted kw capacity.
Who does this apply to?
The program is best suited to customers of Eversource or NHEC in the greater Ammonoosuc Region. It is primarily designed for residential installations, but small farms and businesses may also be interested.
How do I take advantage of this program?
Contact Darren O'Meara at O'Meara Solar at firstname.lastname@example.org or 802-522-2381 for a free site visit at your home or business.
What are the goals for this program?
There are three main goals:
We realize that solar panels may not be an option for some due to siting issues or cost. As a second part of this program, depending upon interest, we will also work with local groups to investigate community solar projects that leverage a larger, shared site.
How long will this program run?
This program will run from the January 24th kickoff until May 29th, 2016. All installations will be complete in time to take advantage of the last year of the 30% federal tax incentive.
Can I use a different installer?
Absolutely. We encourage all residents to adopt solar using the installer they are most comfortable with. However, ARET will execute community outreach with the selected installer only.
What support can I expect?
ARET will host a kick meeting, solar house tours and information deep-dive sessions on financing, net metering, installation basics, and battery technology for off-grid arrangements. Please check out Solarize Ammonoosuc/News and Events on our website for event dates.Presentations from these sessions and more will be available on our website, www.ammenergy.org. Finally, the ARET team will be available to you to make sure your questions are answered by the appropriate experts.
